Psi Chapter Thrives at the University of Virginia
The news from 608 Preston Place is that the Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi continues to uphold its reputation as one of the most sought-out and respected fraternities at U.Va.
At the beginning of the 2013-14 academic year Brothers volunteered their time to a myriad of organizations around the Grounds. Ryan Murphy ’16 and Kyle Souders ’16 became a part of the esteemed Jefferson Literary and Debating Society. Owen Sperling ’16 joined Michael Bugas ’14, Alex Sneider ’15, and Alex Perrin ’15 by becoming a member of the University Guides Service. Many other Brothers volunteered their time to Madison House, the University’s student volunteer organization, participating in activities like tutoring at local schools and participating in the Big Sibling programs.
The Brotherhood completed a successful fall semester by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.306, well above the U.Va. male average of 3.152.
The spring semester holds many of the Chapter’s favorite social events, with Derby Days being one of our most anticipated. Last year alone, we helped raise and donate more than $15,000 for the University of Virginia’s Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network, and this year we are hopeful we can surpass our previous donations. Brothers also look forward to Parents’ Weekend, a wonderful time to meet our Brothers’ parents and celebrate with our own.
The Brotherhood of Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi would like to extend a warm welcome to our new pledge class, comprised of seventeen very exceptional young men. We also want to thank our previous Rush Chairman Michael Bugas ’14 for his hard work and dedication during the 2014 spring semester rush period, an effort that was instrumental to our success in finding our outstanding new pledges.
